When it all begunBuilt in late 1896, the Emeraude Plage Hotel reflects perfectly Dinard and its Victorian periode. From the very start, our establishment is set to attract a more demanding and cosmopolitan clientele, with mostly English visitors.
Dinard is one of the first holiday ressort’s to be established in France during that periode and the ideal location for well-known guests : Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, Georges V, Albert the 1st.
During the early 1920’s the Hotel and Dinard take advantage of the soaring need of holiday-makers for sea side ressorts.
1929 Wall Street Crash, and with it, the end of an era and all its glitz. Follows a periode in which Dinard and its holiday ressort suffer terribly.
As time goes on, many hotels in Dinard end up either closed, converted or simply demolished. Others, like the Emeraude Plage Hotel have managed to survive to this difficult period.
